Public Awareness

4 Ag Hawaii and its collaborative partners will work together – speaking with one voice – to preserve our rich agricultural heritage and provide for a sustainable future for the next generations.

4 Ag Hawaii is continuing to:

 Advocate public policies that support economic sustainability of grazing and other compatible managed open-space uses to protect our valued ecosystems;

 Educate the general public – children; young adults and consumers - policy makers and stakeholders on issues critical for the survival of the industry;

 Educate the local populace as to food security & food safety

 Develop educational initiatives for Hawaii’s keikis and young adults so integral to providing for their sustainable future

                 “Hiki No – Can Do”

4 Ag Hawaii and their partners are:

 Developing cooperative advertising programs with governmental organizations; private sector organization and locally focused food purveyors

 Providing for the usage of actual people in any photograph relating to agriculture -  images of your neighbors;

 Shifting our communications to external audiences away from corporate/technical terms such as best management practices or environmental stewardship to more personal terms such as local, ohana, and your neighbor farmers & ranchers;

 Engaging public awareness through support of agritourism efforts as consumers appreciate seeing where their food comes from

                                                                                     Our ranchers are our neighbors - this is our home
